Overview:
When you use layer masks in Photoshop, you find yourself constantly filling selections with either black or white (to conceal or reveal portions of the layer). I’ve tried countless ways of filling masks with black or white, and the hotkeys below are the fastest:
Mac:
Cmd + Delete = fill with foreground color
Opt + Delete = fill with background color
Shift + Delete = more fill options (50% gray, color, content aware, etc.)
X = toggle between foreground and background colors
D = reset colors back to default (black and white)
PC:
Alt + Backspace = fill with foreground color
Ctrl + Backspace = fill with background color
Shift + Backspace = more fill options (50% gray, color, content aware, etc.)
X = toggle between foreground and background colors
D = reset colors back to default (black and white)
Don’t stress about remembering which color (black or white) you want to fill the selection with–simply use Cmd + Delete and Opt + Delete to quickly remask/demask an area.
